We are proud to annonce that our project “Creative Factory” at Rue du Chêne 5 in Renens (VD) is the Jury Winner in the Architizer A+A Awards in the “Residential Adaptive Reuse Project” category.
Located in the heart of a transforming district in western Lausanne, the Creative Factory project involves the conversion of a former logistics center (Coop) into a mixed-use building. By adapting an existing structure, the project revitalizes the area while reducing the environmental impact associated with new construction. The transformation is based on a material reuse strategy that prioritizes the recovery and repurposing of resources already available on-site, reducing its environmental impact. The energy efficiency has been optimised through better insulation and several renewable energy systems (such as rain water harvesting and district heating).
The Architizer A+Awards is one of the world’s largest and most influential architecture awards programs, recognizing outstanding architecture, spaces, and design practices from around the globe. Organized by Architizer, the awards celebrate projects that demonstrate excellence in design, functionality, innovation, and impact, while providing winners with significant international visibility. Entries are evaluated by a multidisciplinary jury of leading architects, designers, and industry experts, alongside a public voting process that determines the Popular Choice Awards. 5 finalists are nominated within each category. The program aims to promote meaningful architecture and highlight projects that positively shape the built environment and everyday life.
Organized around a new central atrium, the Creative Factory building accommodates live-work lofts as well as spaces dedicated to training, creative activities, and craftsmanship. The project also incorporates a significant landscape component, rethinking the former logistics yard as a green space integrated into a urban context.
