This project involved the conversion of an industrial site located alongside the railway line in Renens into a hub for business and diverse housing, surrounded by a future urban park.
The project has been named Creative Factory and aims to attract local entrepreneurs to workshops, as well as future residents and students wishing to live in unique loft-style accommodation; it also aims to house designer boutiques and a local restaurant.
The project is designed around an atrium that floods this former industrial building with light and a variety of activities.
A reuse initiative was implemented during the works, enabling, amongst other things, the reuse of raised floors, sanitary fittings, lighting fixtures and timber framing for other constructions. The metal structure, meanwhile, was reused to create the playground, and the sawn concrete slabs now serve as pathways within the park.
In 2026, this project won the Jury Prize at the Architizer A+ Awards global competition.
